Story
Thank you for visiting my fund-raising page for Muscular
Dystrophy UK (MDUK) – a charity that does fantastic work in driving research
for treatments and supporting individuals and families living with Muscular
Dystrophy UK
A little bit about me, I’m Guy/Chris Toye, yes I have two
names it’s a pain – I am an On-call Firefighter for the Hereford and Worcester
Fire and Rescue Service. I am aiming to raise awareness and donations for
Muscular Dystrophy UK by competing in the British Firefighters Challenge –
where competitors complete a series of firefighter related endurance challenges
in full gear in the fastest time possible: British Firefighter
Challenge 2021 | A competition organised by Firefighters, for Firefighters.
MDUK is my charity of choice as I wish to support a good
friend of mine, Tom Bassett, who was diagnosed with a form of muscular
dystrophy (FSHD) at the age of 14. Muscular dystrophies are a group of
inherited genetic conditions that cause the gradual weakening of muscles around
the body, with many of those affected having to use a wheelchair in later life
as a result. Currently there are no available treatments able to stop, slow, or
reverse wasting muscles.
We are hopeful for my friend, and for all those impacted by
muscular dystrophy, knowing that your support of this great cause will go a
long way to assist families and help fund research for treatments for muscular
dystrophy!
Wish me luck and thank you for reading!
