Story
I've always wanted to climb Kilimanjaro. My dad inspired me with a curiosity for exotic mountains and high peaks from a young age, as every year he'd return home from a foreign climbing trip with a camera full of mad photos with the stories to match. I always wanted to know which mountains were the highest and the most dangerous and the most famous etc. and that's when I learned of Kilimanjaro. I was never the rock climber my dad was (too scared), so it became obvious as I got older that any high mountains I'd be summiting would be via my two legs alone rather than all fours. Over the last few years I've stepped into a greater appreciation for hiking and I've had Kilimanjaro on the brain. I told myself in a few years I was gonna do it, but as it just so happens that opportunity came around a few years earlier than expected. Now I have the chance to fulfil a dream of mine while changing the lives of so many others in the process. If I reach my fundraising goal (every cent of which goes directly to MRF) I will be permitted to attend this Kilimanjaro trip(every cent of which is payed by me). You can read more about the work of MRF in the next paragraph to get a sense of the massive impact your donation will have. Thanks for stopping by :)
In 2022 I will be climbing Kilimanjaro. My climb is in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation; a charity which aims to research and raise awareness of two serious diseases, Meningitis and Septicaemia. Shockingly, meningitis and neonatal sepsis are the second biggest infectious killer of children under the age of five on the planet, affecting more than 5 million people every year! They can kill you within 12 hours and are responsible for more deaths of children under 5 than malaria, measles, tetanus and AIDS combined. Meningitis Research Foundations work is providing better access to vaccines, health systems that can diagnose and treat children, and support to survivors of meningitis. Thanks to your support they've pioneered a global roadmap, bringing together global expertise to defeat meningitis by 2030. It's time to make meningitis a global health priority, you can do this today by donating using the give now button.
