Story
12 years ago, I sat in the traffic caused by the Bath Half marathon as I made my way to the hospital in Bath to say goodbye to my mum. Many times I've thought about running in the event in her memory. In the early years I was far too far out of shape for it to be an achievable challenge, and in more recent years I've always been too late to get a place. This year, I managed to secure my place in time.
I lost my mum to a type of blood cancer known as "non-hodgkins lymphoma". In the past you may have seen me wearing a Bloodwise cycling jersey (Bloodwise later changed it's name to Blood Cancer UK), or a Blood Cancer UK running t-shirt, and this will be no different. If you're able to sponsor me, know the money will be going to an important cause which means a lot to me.
We're a community dedicated to beating blood cancer. We do this by funding research and supporting those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. Right now, our community is funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough. The day we will beat blood cancer is now in sight and the researchers are determined to finish the job.
