I recently attended an event on behalf of The Co-operative Bank to launch the latest phase of an initiative to help equip kids with Aspergers Syndrome (a form of autism) with life skills. I'd never even heard of Aspergers before getting involved in this initiative, but the launch event really opened my eyes to the issues these kids and their families face and what a massive difference the National Autistic Society makes. The launch event inevitably involved a certain amount of wine, the result of which was me and two of my colleagues agreeing to run the Manchester 10k to raise money for them.
