Story
I am raising money for The Children's Hospital Charity, which funds Sheffield Children's Hospital over and above the NHS provision.
In Decemeber 2014, at 10 months old, my daughter, Phoebe became ill. After months of tests and trial and error with various medications, she was diagnosed with Systemic Juvenile Idopathic Arthritis (SJIA), an autoinflammatory disease that causes swelling throughout her body as well as in her joints. It can also cause rashes and fatigue.
Now under the amazing care of Sheffield childrens hospital her condition is managed with medication and Phoebe now lives a trouble free life. Being able run, go to school and take part in things she loves like gymnastics just shows how vital the care Sheffiled Children's Hospital is and how important the money raised from The Children's Hospital Charity is.
Every year The Children's Hospital Charity organises an overseas trek as part of their fundraising efforts. For 2022 the trek takes place in Peru walking the Inca trail through the majestic sun gate in the ancient ruins of Macchu Pichu.
This is a huge and challenging undertaking, covering over 30 miles in 4 days, at altitudes of 13,500ft. However it is a challenge that is nothing compared to what the wonderful people at Sheffield Children's Hospital do every day for the 1000's of children they care for.
The Children's Hospital Charity is currently looking to fund projects totalling £14 million. This includes the construction of a helipad as well as the redevelopment of their emergency department.
I'm sure you will agree that this is an amazing cause and one that makes a massive difference to thousands of children every year. It certainly made the life of one little girl a whole lot better.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this, and a huge thank you in advance for your kind donations.
