Story
When our middle Daughter Robyn was born, we had an insight into a dangerous infection known as StrepGroup B. We weren't told about if, my wife Julie researched it following the birth of Robyn's older sister.
After pre-agreeing treatment at 38 weeks, the delivery became complicated and eventually she was administered the antiobiotic which treats the condition.
Things unraveled post birth and Robyn was affected by the infection and spent the most frightening week of our lives in a Neo-Natal Intensive care unit. She's grown into our perfectly beautiful and amazing little creature, but for many this isn't the outcome and it's needless.
We knew about it - most don't, Julie was treated for it - most aren't, and Robyn still was really not well. This is needless, it's a case of money and awareness.
I never want to be anywhere near a position like that week again, and i want to help anyone else to avoid it too.
That's why i want to try and run this marathon and in doing so provide some funds for Group Step B Support to enable them.
As those of you who know me, i've never ran a race since the 1km Ainsworth Fun run aged 5 circa 1983 and i think that was a DNF :) But you'll also know i'd never really swam a swimming race until COVID last year too.
After a torn Achilles last year, a torn meniscus this, a 90 year Old hip, a knee made of meringue and with 1 leg bigger than the other its been a challenge to even get this far. It's not ideal but with a barrage of injections, blister plasters and limbs permitting i'll finish this and put everything into what training i can still do (I've had to join a 30 week plan in week 23 😂😳!!) so please do donate and i promise i won't ask for a penny for a while....
Thankyou,
Chris
