Story
Tomos Cross, Jerry Cross and Chris Shrubb 100 mile challenge
In the week starting 7th June 2021 I will be taking part in a 100 mile challenge with my Dad and Uncle to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSH Charity). Our son Finn George Tomos Cross was born in the UK on 26th September 2020 following an uncomplicated pregnancy and subsequent birth. Despite the best medical treatment, and not before making the greatest impact on the lives of all who loved and cared for him, Finn passed away on 5th October 2020 from a rare metabolic condition called OTC deficiency. It meant his body was unable to process protein, instead converting it to ammonia. It was a complete shock following a positive pregnancy and birth. For 7 of his 9 precious days, his life was in the hands of a group of incredibly kind and talented people from various fields of medicine, who did everything possible to save him whilst he was at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). After a phenomenal and momentarily odds-defying fight, his body proved it was unable to cope with the levels of protein necessary to live on, and we had to let him go. Finn George Tomos Cross died in our arms on Monday 5th October at 10:31pm, surrounded by love. We want some good to come from this heartbreaking chapter of our lives. Therefore, we want to continue our fundraising with this latest challenge. The plan is to complete 100 miles by:
- Running 13 miles
- Cycling the 66 miles around the Isle of Wight
- Walking the peaks of the Jurassic Coast for 20 miles from Abbotsbury to Lyme Regis
- Swimming a mile at Charmouth
GOSH is a truly inspirational place saving lives of so many little people on a daily basis. They were a huge part of our lives, for a brief but unforgettable moment.
We love you Finn and always will 💙🌠 your Daddy, Mummy and bigbrother Ezra xx #finngeorgetomoscross #finnslegacy Please feel free to share & lets see what we can achieve together!
