Fundraising for COWES SAILABILITY CLUB
Chris Preston, Chair of the Board at the RYA, has announced that he will be raising funds for Cowes Sailability Club while self-distancing at home during the current COVID-19 outbreak. This week, he will carry a 26kg pack up and down 26 steps, 26 times, as part of the national 2.6 Challenge scheme.
Chris says: “I am inspired every time I see the Cowes Sailability team in operation. The smiles on the faces are fantastic and the club does so much to improve the lives of people who would otherwise not get the chance to get on the water. It is a wonderful charity and, like so many others, needs to be helped at this challenging time.”
“We are incredibly grateful to Chris for undertaking a 2.6 Challenge in aid of CowesSailability Club and hope that his creative fundraising idea will help to inspire other people to organise a similar activity to raise money for the club,” says Trish Rooke, Fundraising Officer at Cowes Sailability Club. “Although we cannot do any sailing and boating activities at the moment, due to the lockdown restrictions, we still have many ongoing costs and need to maintain our boats. Any money that anyone can raise by undertaking a 2.6 Challenge will be greatly appreciated.”
