Race to the Stones 2022 · 9 July 2022 to 10 July 2022 ·

Working together to improve the lives of 100,000 people.

Story

My main event this year is to run a 100km (62miles) multi-terrain ultramarathon in July called Race to the Stones. This will be the first attempt to run this distance with a marathon (26.2miles) being my longest to date.

As part of my training will be also taking part in the MK Marathon (26.2miles) and a 35mile multi-terrain ultramarathon in May. I will use other events to break up my training.

Our purpose at RS Group is to making amazing happen for a better world and thats why we've chosen to partner with The Washing Machine Project and The Washing Machine Project Foundation as our first global charity partner. This small charity has developed an innovative, off-grid solution to help people in hard-hit communities around the world to wash their clothes. They share our ambition to inspire a more sustainable world through education and innovative solutions that improve lives and were really excited about supporting them over the next three years.

About the Washing Machine Project

Around 70% of the world’s population does not have access to an electric washing machine and many people have to wash their clothes by hand in rivers, lakes and buckets. Handwashing is predominantly left to women and girls, forcing them to spend up to 20 hours per week on this task causing severe back and joint pain and painful skin irritation, as well as preventing the chance of an education.

The Washing Machine Project (TWMP) has built an affordable, easy to maintain, manual crank washing machine, requiring no electricity, using 50% less water than handwashing and reducing the time spent on this task by 75%. We are supporting The Washing Machine Project with essential funding, products and expertise to deploy 7,500 machines to disadvantaged families and communities in 10 countries by 2024. Together, our goal is to improve the lives of 100,000 people by offering them better health, education and economic opportunities.
