Story

SADLY YOU OR I WILL DEVELOP CANCER !    I HAVE NEVER ASKED ANYONE TO SPONSOR ME BEFORE FOR PAST EVENTS THAT I HAVE DONE,BUT MAGGIES DO NOT GET FUNDING AND RELY TOTALLY ON DONATIONS. I HAVE PAID MY OWN ENTRY FEE, I AM ASKING IF YOU COULD SPARE THE SUM OF A COFFEE AND SANDWICH TO SPONSOR MYSELF TO RAISE MONEY FOR THIS INCREDIBLE UNIT WHICH I HOPE YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO USE. EVERY PENNY RAISED GOES DIRECTLY TO THE UNIT. Maggies Swansea is a local charity that supports anyone affected by cancer, their family and friends, across South & West Wales. By 2020 1 in 2 people will be affected by cancer in their lifetime. Many will face tough questions, exhausting treatment and difficult emotions that also affect their friends and families. Thats why they need a Maggies. Maggies provides the following:Free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends.Psychologists to help with the emotional trauma of cancer.Benefits Advisors to help people access benefits and grants they are entitled to.Support groups - each providing an invaluable source of support to people with cancer. In the words of one of our centre users The hospital cured my cancer but Maggies made me better.Maggies is solely reliant on the generosity of the community and receives no money from the Government or NHS.
