Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hi, I’m Chris Morrison and I’m an operational Firefighter from Northern Ireland. In November 2016 a large tumour was discovered in my bowel and I had to have an operation to have it removed and have a permanent colostomy.

As someone living with a permanent colostomy I want to prove that it’s not a barrier to doing any activity. So what better way to test it than in the heat and sand of the Sahara Desert? I’m not expecting this to
be a walk in the park and I’m fully prepared for 8 months of training before undertaking a 3 day trek over the Sand Dunes in the Sahara Desert this October. During this challenge I will also be camping in the Desert at night so no hot baths or comfy bed at the end of my days trekking.

Throughout my illness the support I received from my family and my fire service colleagues was immense and I was able to avail of rehabilitation services offered by The Fire Fighters Charity. Thanks to all this support I was able to return to full operational duty 12 months after my operation.

I can’t thank everyone individually for their support but I can raise funds to help other firefighters by testing and pushing myself in extreme environments.
