I am running my first ever marathon, and want you to sponsor me.

I've always been a bit intimidated by the idea of running over 40 kilometers in one go, but this year I am rising to the challenge in order to raise money for an important cause. 

Almost 2 years ago, cancer claimed my former colleague, long-time co-author, mentor, and friend Mary MacKinnon.  Mary was only 51.  Life (and death) can be tragically unfair, but by sponsoring my race, you can help cut the number of people claimed by cancer in the future.  Cancer research has acheived great things in the last forty years.  We can help it accomplish even more in the years ahead.
