We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Between the 27th and 30th June we’ll be walking the length of the Great Glen Way (77 miles) from Fort William on Scotland’s west coast to Inverness on the east coast. “It’s only walking!” I seem to remember us saying but as neither of us would ordinarily walk any further than railway stations whilst travelling to and from work I think we may have seriously misjudged the scale of this!

We’re doing this to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society. We’ve both witnessed first hand the effects of dementia on both the sufferer and their family and friends. But we’re far from being alone in this. 700,000 people in the UK have a form of dementia and this number is set to grow dramatically. The Alzheimer’s Society are there to help these people and their families today as well as trying to find a cure for tomorrow.

So please dig deep and donate now.

COMPETITION!

In addition, we're now running a competition where you can win an iPod Touch. When you make a donation you can take a guess at how many steps it will take to complete the walk. You're looking for the total for both of us. For example if you think we'll each take 160,125 steps then your answer should be 320,250! The person who guesses closest to the actual total will win the iPod Touch. You can either email your guess to silkerc@liv.ac.uk or include it in your comment.

Good Luck!
