This is the Story of a Great Man that will never be forgotten!!!!
When he was born,Chris was the answer to his mum and dads greatest dream – they always wanted a boy to complete there wonderful, happy family. He was adored from the moment he came into the world –his dad showered the nurses with gifts – everything in the families lives was complete.
Then came the cruelest blow – on a routine check,it was discovered that Chris had 2 holes in his heart,a defective valve, and a much narrowed-aorta. He was too weak to operate on – in those days it involved major surgery,so for the next 10 years as his family didn't quite understanding how serious it all was,but knowing that somehow it was no longer the same.
When he was 10,the doctors decided they couldnot wait any longer,if Chris was to survive.Even then his chances of survival where not great. No one asked Chris what he thought!! Two weeks after the operation he was walking around, planning going back to the cubs, where he had only been an onlooker for so long, and dreaming of swimming and playing football.Henever once looked back,he drew a line under his previous life and just embraced the world!
From that time on,Chris was always on antibiotics and betablockers, but as the years passed and he grew, that all faded in memory.
Chris embraced life to the full – he learned to scuba dive,he worked in Scotland as a gamekeeper,he was a genius with a camera and a computer, nothing was too much for him. The greatest pride in his life was his precious daughter Frances – they adored each other, and were never apart. He never really left home – after the death of his dad,he took on the role of man of the house and looked after his mum. He was full of dreams and hopes for the future – life was good for him.
On January 8th 2009 ,he was not feeling too good and went to the doctor, who sent him to hospital for tests.
His family left him that evening, laughing and joking as usual.
24 hours later he was dead – the heart that had given him a new lease of life had finally given up. His Mum followed him 4 weeks later – she could not live without the son she fought so hard to keep.
Neither Chris or his family ever forgot the debt they owed to the British Heart Foundation – without their research he would not have had a life at all
So please help me help those in need of our help
Thank you for taking the time to read this now please help me try and put a smile on someone else's face even if it's just for a short time xx
Thanks
Chris Lumm
