Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
ECO is the charitable group behind the incredibly popular Hounslow Urban Farm and Tropical Zoo.
Father and daughter team Tony and Alice Purdy have set themselves the goal of raising £2million to build a new centre for education conservation. This incredible 20,000 sq ft undercover rainforest which will immerse local schoolchildren in a fascinating world already has planning permission - it just needs the funds to make it all happen.
This is where we come in, the Hounslow Chronicle has been a long-time supporter of both the Zoo and the Farm and jumped at the chance to become an official media partner once both were united together in Faggs Road, Feltham, last year. Our photographers are on hand whenever a major fundraising event takes place and we have been happy to produce many stories detailing how the push for the grand total is going.
As I write, there is still a way to go, hence why I have volunteered to lace up my comfy shoes and walk 60 miles in a day from Putney to Henley along the historic and beautiful Thames Path. The event is organised by Action Challenge and while I only need £400 in order to qualify to take part I am hoping to do so much better than that and give a massive shot in the arm to what we at the Chronicle believe is a truely worthwhile cause.
