I'll be continuing my running journey having recently completed the Porthcawl 10k on Sunday 07 Jul 2024 which was an absolute blast! Knee is recovering well and high hopes for tackling the Cardiff Half now. Fingers crossed no more injuries in this final stretch...
London Marathon 2024 - COMPLETED!!
This is my first ever marathon... Go me!
I'm sure most of you reading likely think I am never going to be able to finish, but please do sponsor me and let me prove you wrong!!
However, it will not all be down to my dogged wilfulness, but mainly as I am running on behalf of such an amazing charity, Cancer Research Wales.
Cancer Research Wales are at the heart of Welsh cancer research, bringing the potential for life saving research to the people of Wales, and supporting the wider aim of getting rid of such a nasty and impactful disease.
The focus of Cancer Research Wales isn't solely on lab based research, but also actively engages with health systems, government and key stakeholders to understand real life impacts and to tackle policy changes for the better. For me, it is great that the whole pathway is being addressed to enable change where it really matters.
Our vision is a Wales united against cancer through world-class research. Together we will reduce the impact of cancer and improve unacceptable survival rates. We will work to make sure that the people of Wales do not have to accept cancer as a life-threatening disease. And we will do this by supporting the best cancer researchers and clinicians to make discoveries which will transform lives. Our DNA is what makes us human, but its also what sets us apart. Its what makes us who we are, and ultimately, its what drives us forward to change cancer outcomes across Wales. Wales is a part of our very make-up. Everything we do is for the people of Wales, and our work is putting our country on the map as a place of innovation and research, while changing lives for cancer patients here in Wales.
