Story
Tommy’s is a fantastic charity that researches the causes and prevention of pregnancy complications, miscarriage, stillbirth, premature birth and neonatal death. They also offer invaluable support to grieving families and couples following baby loss. They are always at the end of the phone with a kind voice and to offer advice or sometimes just to listen.
We lost our son, Oscar, at nearly 22 weeks on 23 May 2021, due to PPROM. PPROM stands for pre-term premature rupture of membranes and is where the waters break at an early stage in pregnancy. The amniotic fluid is critical for a baby’s lung development, particularly between weeks 16-23. In our case the rupture happened at 17 weeks. Losing Oscar is something we never imagined we would have to face and is completely devastating.
By cycling the 100 miles for Ride London I hope to help Tommy’s continue their incredibly important work and help people get through what is an unbearable tragedy. Knowing they are always there is a great comfort to so many families and couples. I hope that by continuing to raise money in Oscar’s memory, his legacy will live on and help others through such difficult times.
