Story
Whats the challenge?
On the 3rd June 2016, I am attempting to cycle from London to Paris in under 24 hours. The challenge begins with an 80 mile stint to Newhaven. From there we will catch a ferry to Dieppe where the 140 mile stint to Paris begins.
The Charity:
The charity which I shall be raising money for is Cancer Relief Gibraltar. Cancer Relief Gibraltar was set up 30 years ago to provide support for those living with cancer.
They understand that a diagnosis of cancer can be a life-changing event and provide free services to individuals and their families in order to provide a strong support network throughout the patient's illness and afterwards.
The warm nature of the centre provides a home-from-home environment and accompanied by the professional knowledge and expertise allows for each individual to experience services tailored to their needs.
Why have I chosen this charity?
In 2008, my mum was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer and the treatment and support she received was second to none. Due to the strains and stresses seen throughout the recovery period, a support network is essential to a cancer sufferer and this is why I have chosen to cycle for Cancer Relief.
Cancer will affect one in three people at some point in their life. As a result of improvements in cancer treatments, more people are living longer. This means that there will be more people living with cancer needing this type of support.
Thank you very much for taking the time to visit my page and any donation, no matter how little, will mean so much!!
