4 MEN, 3 MOUNTAINS, 2 DRIVERS, 1DAY !!!!!! CAN IT BE DONE ?
Sat in the pub after an auction one evening, with all the staff of Edwards Moore and Auction House, we decided to have a year of fund raising. The Auction team of Chris Edwards, Matt Moore, Joe Griffin and Rob Key ( of Village Estates) have opted to try and complete the 3 highest peaks in England ( Scafell Pike) Scotland ( Ben Nevis) and Wales ( Snowdon ) in 24hours, commonly known as the 3 Peaks Challenge.
In preparation we are under going a training regime where we are joined by Cheryl Lewis, Josie Hooper, Alisha Edwards, Lauren Key, Michael Lewis and our intrepid little walker Dan Moore (7). So far we have completed a number of walks on the Long Mynd in Shropshire, The Roches in Norths Staffs and two in the Brecon Beacons, finally conquering the Pen y Fan horseshoe on 26th April. Further planned walks include Scafell Pike and High Stack in The Lakes and Cadair Idris in North Wales. See the pictures below of our practice walks
So what's the challenge ? We will be travelling up to Fort William, driven by Paul Jay and Simon Daniels, on Thursday 25th June for an overnight stop. At 5pm on Friday 26th we will start the ascent of Ben Nevis, hopefully we will complete the climb and be back down by 10pm. We then tackle the long drive to the Lakes, where we start the ascent of Scafell Pike in the dark at around 4am. The plan is to be back at the cars by 8am for the final drive to Snowdon. Traffic permitting, we will be the Pen y Pass car park by 1pm Saturday lunchtime, giving us 4 hours to get up and down Snowdon, with a few of our other practice walkers joining us, to complete the challenge within 24 hours. A drive back will see us in Walsall Cricket Club by 7.30pm to celebrate with a few beers followed by a curry at the Kajal at 9.30pm with fellow walkers, friends and family.
We all know someone affected by cancer, so we want to raise as much money as we can for Helen and the other members of Walsall Macmillan Cancer Support, so its over to you to dig deep and make our efforts worthwhile.
THANK YOU
Chris, Matt, Joe and Rob
