Story
Hello there. Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.
I'm taking part in the Big Walk 2022, a 50km hiking challenge on Friday 24 June, to fundraise for Genetic Disease Research at the University of Sheffield.
In the UK alone, 1 in 25 children is affected by a genetic disorder. Sheffield's research will change the lives of families desperately seeking treatment for their loved-one.
The University of Sheffield is a world-leading research centre in this area, developing gene therapy treatments for diseases like Motor Neurone Disease, Spinal Muscular Atrophy and frontotemporal dementia.
By donating you will give hope to families living with the ongoing challenges of a genetic disease.

Where's this walk going then?
Setting off from Hope train station at 7am, I'll be scaling Lose Hill, rambling along the tops to Mam Tor, taking the Edale skyline round to Kinder, popping over to Win Hill, slaloming down to Ladybower, nipping up Bamford Edge, swimming the sea of heather to Stanage Edge, then off to the University Arms for a celebratory cup of tea. Lovely stuff.
The hike itself looks pretty challenging. It's got 1,455m worth of climb (more than Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in UK) but it's also 31 miles worth of trails. But I'm a Big Walk veteran and a Peak District enthusiast, so this should be a walk in the (national) park.
