Campaign by Cure Leukaemia (RCN 1100154)
The Tour 21 will see a team of amateur cyclists ride all 21 stages of the 2023 Tour de France, one week ahead of the professionals - with the aim of raising £1m for Cure Leukaemia.

Story

In June 2023, I will be tackling The Tour 21 on behalf of the blood cancer charity Cure Leukaemia. Alongside 24 amateur cyclists we look to complete the full Tour de France route one week ahead of the professionals. Starting in Bilbao, Spain, The Tour 21 will take place from Friday 23 June - Sunday 16 July and will tackle all 21 stages, 3,404 km (2,115 miles), of the Tour de France. This is an extraordinary challenge, taken on by ordinary people.

2023 will mark 20 years since our son, Noah, was diagnosed with leukemia when he was 3 years old. Advances in leukemia treatment made possible through clinical trials saved his life. However, the cure rate for leukemia is not 100%. We saw other families, during Noah's illness, face the unimaginable. I am taking on this challenge to help raise money to support needed clinical trials to enhance treatment options and find cures for leukemia, so in the (near) future no child will lose their fight against this disease.

Currently, the 5-year survival rate for people diagnosed with leukemia is 65%. Every hour 7 people in the United States are diagnosed with some form of leukemia. Having seen first hand the terrible consequences of this disease and the bravery of kids and families who have to fight it, I am riding for them.  If you are able, please consider supporting this important cause. Any donation will be greatly appreciated and will go directly to support research to advance new treatments and find cures for this disease. Thank you!

Cure Leukaemia fund research nurses at 15 hospitals across the UK. These roles form the Trials Acceleration Programme (TAP) network giving patients, from a catchment area of 30m, access to potentially life-saving treatments through clinical trials, with plans to fund a paediatric network on the way.
