Story
Anyone who knew Chris Cooksley knew that he was a massive Batman fan. If he wasn't watching Man United, playing golf, or telling us how Kylie Minogue was going to be our "new mum", he was quoting his favourite Bruce Wayne lines.
He was also a great runner, even partaking in the London marathon. Sadly, neither of us inherited his sporty gene, so that was never a realistic option for us when raising money in his memory! We did inherit his daft sense of humour though, which is why on 1st Oct, we will be dressing up as Batman/Batgirl for the day & tackling a 5k assault course made up of inflatable obstacles, bubbles and who knows what else!
All money we raise will be donated to St Luke's Hospice, who we would like to thank for their support in caring for our Dad when he was terminally ill - and the comfort and kindness that they showed us when he passed, when we were children dealing with the grief of losing a father.
Thank you xxx
Since 1988, St Luke’s has been providing palliative care to local people, supporting them in ways which go beyond the scope and funding of the NHS. Last year we supported over 1,000 local people with a huge range of support from end of life care on our ward to supporting carers, and from helping children cope with grief to helping patients return to work after an illness. We are a charity and provide all our care for free, so we rely on the generosity and commitment of our supporters to raise more than 80% of our costs.
