Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So, sadly I guess there are very few of us whose lives have not been touched by Cancer. I lost my mum to it seven years ago and it was a significant factor in the recent passing of my Dad. They were both passionate about Cancer Research as a Charity and so it's a fitting and poignant tribute to them both that I take on this challenge. I hope that the money that I raise with your help and support will go some way to beating this terrible disease that affects so many of us. I'm not great with sleep deprivation (!) so I'd really appreciate any donations that you are able to make - sincerely, thank you.
Update 4/4/12 So a huge thank you to all those of you who have donated so far - I'm well into my training regime and have been cycling 20 miles a day into work for the last 7 weeks. During this time I have nearly been hit by two cars, actually have been hit by a van, and been knocked off my bike by a pedestrian running into the road! That's commitment! On the plus side the cardio fitness is getting better and I have dropped 2% body fat. I've been advised that I now need to build endurance through 3 hour training "events" and apparently drinking Kronenbourg doesn't count! :-(
Update 15/4/12. So just did my first "endurance" training walk. 4 hours up the Long Mynd in Shropshire. It's only 520m but it's taught me that even though it's "only" walking I definitely need to stretch! My hamstrings are killing!!!
Final Update - 3 Peaks Completed - Wow! What an experience. The sheer majesty (and snow!) of "The Ben" has to be seen. Ran down the last bit to ensure I was up and down in under 5 hours. Scaffel was in the dark and as slow to come down as go up due to the uneven surface threatening to twist an unwary ankle at any moment. Snowdon was arguably the most beautiful - helped by a sunny ascent. At times you have to "scramble" but the scenery is nothing short of stunning. A huge thank you to our hard working drivers and support crew and especially to each and every one of you who donated to my challenge. I know that loads of these go around and so I really cannot thank you enough for all of your support. All the best, Chris
