UPDATED: I am very sad to announce that Andy lost his battle on Monday 17 February 2014. He fought to the very end and amazed everyone with his strength. We will miss him terribly. We were able to tell him before he went that we had already raised a staggering £2,260, and I would like to thank everybody so much for their generosity. Keep sharing this page far and wide, we want to raise as much as possible to enable research into this terrible disease. Thank you. Chris x
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. My Big Cuz was diagnosed in March 2013 with a brain tumour. At the time Andy was given just 6 months to spend with his fantastic wife of 27 years, and their three amazing children, Ella, Ruby and Harris. Later, on starting a 6 week course of radiotherapy, we were told he would not see out his treatment, let alone make it to Christmas!
Defying every doctor and nurse Andy did celebrate Christmas, and then his 51st birthday on New Years Eve. His next target is his daughter Ruby’s 18th birthday in March.
I have decided to set this page up well in advance of my trek in August, as Andy will be excited to see the progress of my training (AKA laugh at me getting lost on every walk) and hopefully get to see the donations towards his chosen charity coming in.
Andy knows the 400-odd miles of coastline very well. It has some of the wildest and most severe coastline in the country, with long stretches of multiple steep inclines and declines, in total I will climb to nearly 3 times the height of Everest! Starting out at Lands End and finishing at my home, Poole Harbour, it’s going to be tough going with training already in place. I am hoping to complete the walk in approx 3 weeks over August and September 2014. Trekking aprox 20 miles a day.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, I will endeavour to keep you updated on my progress through a blog on here. Please do pass this on to anyone who you think would like to support/sponsor the trek.
