Story

Donate to our fundraising initiatives for our Charity of the Year, The North London Hospice.

Let us take you back to the pre-covid world of August 2019… CBW had just chosen the North London Hospice as our charity to support over a two year period, and the team were getting excited about ‘The Big Challenge’ which was to climb the National Three Peaks. By January 2020 we had the hotel booked, the minibuses on standby, and the team ready to go. Newbie walkers were seeking advice on the best high energy snacks to stock up on and how to choose walking boots.

Then the Covid-19 curveball turned our plans upside down. We stopped all planning and began the depressing task of cancelling our bookings. Critically, it also halted sponsorship for many charities, including the North London Hospice. The hospice is committed to providing the highest quality palliative and end of life care and support for patients and families living with a life limiting illness. It also relies heavily on donations and fundraising initiatives such as this.

Following Boris Johnson’s announcement on the UK’s roadmap out of lockdown, we have decided to re-arrange our challenge and take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks instead. This is still an incredibly physically demanding undertaking which includes a 24-mile walk and climbing three peaks in the Yorkshire Dales. We have 13 walkers: Agata Bagniuk, Alex Day, Chris Clayton, Claire North, Dean Vincent, Rachael Weld, Rachel Collett, Ranil Perera, Samantha Day, Simrat Sanghera, Susan Powell, Tony Chin and Voytek Piasek. We also have 3 support staff involved in the mission: Claire Adamson, Dan Howarth and Peter Winter.

We hope you can help support us reach our target of raising £50,000 for the charity. This amount can contribute towards:

  • Run the hospice for over 4 days (£12,000 per day)
  • Fund petrol costs for transporting their community nurse specialists to patients’ homes in order to deliver end-of-life care

  • Fund over 1800 counselling sessions for bereaved family members

  • Pay for 20 pain relief mattresses (£2,500 for one mattress)

  • Sponsor a nurse for 56 full weeks (£125 per day)
