I have done a fair few sporting endeavours over the last few years, some short, some silly and usually either for charity or pure stubbornness, but I never thought I'd be doing a marathon. 

Long distance running and me. Not a natural match...

I have a long history with St John's that goes back to a rugby match that went horribly wrong when I was 17. Thankfully, pitch side was a St John Ambulance crew who were with me immediately, immobilised and got me to a back and neck specialist hospital asap. 

Without, their immediate response I can't begin to imagine how different things could've turned out and how many of those sporting endeavours I wouldn't have been able to do or how different my life with the kids would be today.

Their reassuring presence at sports matches, major events, concerts and festivals is thankfully not always noticed, but you'll know it and value it highly if or when you need it.

Please donate what you can, please go on a St John first aid course and I hope we'll never need them...
