On Valentine’s Day of this year some close family friends were left heartbroken on the day where hearts traditionally are associated with happiness.

Roger London, a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, granddad and great friend passed away when health issues meant his heart could go on no longer.

Uncle Roger as I knew him was a lovely man of great character who could bring out a smile to all who met him. He leaves behind his wife of over 50 years, Auntie Shirley and two of my oldest friends Amanda & Clare are now without their dad.

He had had several heart issues stretching back over some years and it is good to know that medical advances in coronary care likely helped to ensure he was able to live life to the full.

In addition, my beloved stepdad Joe died many years ago from thickening of the arteries around the heart. He is sadly missed to this day and had also been a London Marathon veteran, he was only 65 when he left us bereft.

The BHF can help fund vital research and technology to help save lives and prevent many other families suffer similar tragedies. 

Those who know me well know the last marathon, 3 years ago made me feel pretty ill afterwards but I’m willing to go through all the training and pain again to raise some money for this worthy cause.
