Story
Thank you for taking an interest in our first social fundraiser (ever!) in Manchester on Sunday 22 September. The bike ride, which has been organised by Freedom from Torture with the help of Get Up & Give and Josh Fear (qualified Bike Instructor), is exclusively for our supporters and friends.
The beautiful ride from Chorlton Water Park (South Manchester) to Lymm (Cheshire), is a largely traffic-free ride through wonderful countryside. We will stop for lunch and aim to be back around 4.30pm. Once back in Chorlton we will enjoy some food and drink together at Jackson's Boat along the banks of the River Mersey.
- Starting Point: 10.30am - Chorlton Water Park, Maitland Avenue, Manchester M21 7NH
- Route Distance - 27.28 miles roundtrip (13.64 miles each way)
- Route Type - Out and Back
- Surfaces - Gravel, dirt, shale and tarmac. Not recommended for narrow tyres. Hybrid bikes ideal.
Any money you can give will go directly to support torture surviviors living in the UK. We hope you will enjoy the ride and look forward to seeing you then!
Freedom from Torture is a human rights organisation that works with survivors of torture who come into the UK. We have been working for 27 years to provide direct clinical services to survivors of torture who arrive in the UK, as well as striving to protect and promote their rights. Over 50,000 individuals have been referred to us for help. Our clients come into the centre really traumatised having experienced very terrible things, leaving friends, family, and their country/culture behind, and then having to re-build their lives in the UK, whilst fighting for their right to stay in the country for safety.
