Story
Hey Everyone,
For my mitzvah project I’d like to ask all family and friends to donate for a special organization in memory of my dear uncle Nicky Z " L
The Nicky Alliance Centre was founded in 1951 (previously the ‘’Jewish Blind Society’’) and has a track record in supporting vulnerable people. In 1987, my grandpa Nigel Alliance built a state-of-the-art facility in Prestwich, North Manchester that has been named after my uncle Nicky Alliance ever since. The Nicky caters for over 45 elderly and disabled people every day helping them have a more fulfilled life. Transport is provided by the Nicky to bring each member from there house where activities will take place, such as art classes, computer sessions and even yoga! The Nicky has a chef that never disappoints with lunch and meals on wheels whereby each year over 2,500 meals are sent out on a Tuesday and Friday to housebound members of the community or to those who are unable to cook for themselves.
It is my goal to raise enough money to purchase a new minibus that is used everyday to pick up members of the centre.
The current minibus is over 14 years old and as it is the heart of the centre picking and dropping members it is crucial that this is safe and road worthy. We are looking to purchase a ‘’Ford’’ minibus that has only done 2,000 miles and will therefore last for many years to come. It will specially be adapted with seating, ramps and tail lift with a capacity for 14 people. The cost of the transit is $50,000 with a further spend of $25,000 to transform and make it suitable for wheelchair access.
The minibus will be in the memory of my dearest uncle Nicky and to celebrate the 70th anniversary of this amazing charity that needs the support of the people from all over the world.
