Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've always wanted to run the GNR but wanted to make sure I did it at a moment where I felt I could raise the most money possible for a worthy cause such as Macmillan Cancer Support.

It's true what they say that at some point in everyone's life they will face the struggle of cancer. It may be themselves or simply someone they know. It is unfortuneatly something that has been present in my life more times than I would have liked it to. The people at Macmillan are there to support everyone through cancer. The patients, their family and their friends so that no one faces cancer alone.

In 2004 when I was just 9 years old, I lost my Grandma Eileen to cancer. She was 53 and had battled the illness for 10 years. She's an inspiration to me and I have so many fond memories. She is still missed sorely by the whole family and is the person I think of with every big decision in my life - including running this race.

8 years ago my cousin Matthew contracted Leukemia at only 3 years old. As such a young child, and a twin watching his brother play, I can only imagine how scary it must have been for him. Thankfully he has been in remission now for 5 years and is living his life to the full like every child should.

Sadly, in November last year, cancer also took the life of Dave Cairns - My best friend's father. Seeing how this affected everyone especially those who are close is what has promted us all to run this year and remember all those we've lost and celebrate those who've survived.

500 pounds is my target to raise but I hope that so much more can be acheived! None of us are runners so trainging will be tough but knowing were running for a good cause is our motivation. Macmillan has helped all the people I've mentioned above including those who know them and miss them. So get donating!

I hope everyone can see the good and importance in the work macmillan does and finds it within them to donate. Every penny makes a difference!

Thanks and wish me luck!!
