Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Yes... We're at it again!
You may remember John tackling the "Ten Tops" challenge in 2012 to climb the ten highest points in Ulster in 100 hours....
HE SMASHED IT IN 80!!!
Being an avid mountain walker he decided to keep going and is challenging himself to do the highest point in all 32 counties.... and he's only got 6 left to do!
The challenge got put aside when his daughter became seriously ill in 2014 but thankfully all's well and hes back doing what he does best... making us all look incredibly lazy!!! So we're back publicly fundraising again- Thanks to Paul O'Hare for jump starting us again as he takes on the Belfast Colour Dash this weekend in memory of Chloe.
I'm sure most of you know the back story but just in case your new here's why all this happens...
John lost his granddaughter Chloe (aged 6) in a car accident in 2002. He decided some time after that he would like her to be remembered in some way, not just by those that knew her, but by those unfortunate enough never to get the chance. He reached out to several charities and Concern were the ones who reached back. Even though we were both new to memorial funds and what they could achieve, we worked it out together and have managed to change THOUSANDS of lives since!
We decided the fund should focus on education projects as Chloe loved school and had a huge desire to learn. John started with walking the Mourne Wall and has since cycled the length of Ireland (Mizen to Malin ), cycled part of the Tour De France-the infamous Alpe d'Huez, Climbed the Ten Tops and has done NUMEROUS marathons- including the Mourne Way marathon.
To date the education fund has raised over £25,000 and has really made a huge difference to thousands of children in countries including Kenya and Haiti. We really could not have done it without everyone's generosity.... You all have been great in supporting us as we know there is always "someone looking something" and we honestly appreciate every single penny donated to us.
So there ya have it... Paul will be getting covered in paint while acting the eejitt (anything new there lad?) and John will hope to complete his challenge in September.
As always we would like to THANK YOU in advance for any donations that are made. Keeping that in mind, if you are a UK tax payer PLEASE click the GIFT AID button to ensure your generous donation's tax comes to us and not the government, it's easy, FREE and it wont cost you any extra. You can also donate by texting PIKA66 and your amount to 70070- the texts are free and gift aid can be added to them also.
Thanks again
