Story
I've finally taken the plunge and signed up to run the 2007 London Marathon for the charity Wellchild. Anyone who knows me well will know how intrinsically lazy I am and therefore what a hard decision it was to make!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the children's health charity Wellchild, they help to fund much needed paediatric research, along with providing care within the community for families with sick or disabled children. Currently, the projects that Wellchild are funding include research into cystic fibrosis, diabetes and neonatal medicine, amongst many others.
My daughter Lucy is the reason that I have chosen Wellchild as a charity to fundraise for. Lucy was born in 2004 with a congenital developmental disorder, which means that she has cerebral palsy, a visual impairment and learning difficulties. Unfortunately, medical research hasn't progressed far enough to be able to indicate what caused her disability, or to give it a name. Like thousands of other parents, we are left with many unanswered questions. However, what the above description doesn't tell you about Lucy is what a happy, sociable, determined girl she is.

Thank you so much for your support, your donation will be making a difference to sick children and their families everywhere. If you're around in London on the 22nd April I would love to see you on the day (message to Dottie - no, I won't be doing a Paula, but I look forward to meeting you afterwards for a pint).
