Story
Thanks for even taking time to visit my page!
Anyone who knows me will know that I'm not the most active of people and spend too much time asleep so getting through the next 7 months of training will be a feat in itself and it really will push me to the edge if not over it. Oscar the dog has already suffered an injury out jogging, nothing serious don't fret (sympathy vote).
I did sign up for the Great North Run to motivate myself but at the same time I wanted to raise money and awareness for a charity. I have chosen to run for Alzheimer's Society because it's a disease which affects the individual and also those around them massively. The prevalence of dementia is steadily increasing and last year 1 in 14 of individuals over the age of 65 were reported to suffer from the disease. 62% of these suffered from Alzheimer's.
For anyone whose lives have been affected by the disease will know that a diagnosis means much more than the individual just suffering memory loss. The disease is progressive and fatal and individuals may eventually lose the person they once were. Raising money for this charity will hopefully raise awareness about how debilitating the disease can be, as well as helping to provide care and support for sufferer's and those around them.
