(Virtual) London Marathon 2020 + 2021

London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
If you'd like to know about my '21 in 21' challenge, please see below. If you'd simply like to make all the pain worthwhile, thank you. Every penny really does count.
'21 in 21'.
My Grandmother was a huge influence in my life. She was a traditional matriarch, formidable, stoic, and incredibly kind. She never once complained despite being in considerable pain for most of her adult life. She was diagnosed very early with crippling Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoporosis and died far too young. She never stopped, nor let her condition get in the way of living life to the full. I am doing something she never could to raise money in her memory .
Having barely run a day in my life, I ran my first London Marathon on Sunday 21st April 2013, at the age of 21, in memory of my Grandmother who suffered from the disease for approximately 21 years. Her birthday was also on the 21st. This, in my ever overly-excitable state, was taken as a sign. 21 marathons, one each year for 21 years, began.
Osteoporosis is a disease of the bones, causing them to become weak, brittle and more likely to break. It can cause excruciating pain as the bone tissue wears away and affects 3 million - young & old - in the UK.
Few people in the UK really understand what osteoporosis is. Even fewer understand the true extent of the impact it has on lives; robbing those affected of self-confidence, reducing independence and making everyday activities a challenge. This is exactly what happened to my Grandma and why I run for the Osteoporosis Society every year. I have raised £13,500 so far. Please donate what you can so I reach my aim of £15,000 for 2020!
Thank you.
