Story
I run the Hairy Haggis relay every year for the Euan MacDonald Centre for Motor Neurone Disease research. It is a great cause and we are committed to conducting research that will slow, stop and hopefully reverse the damage caused by MND.
Euan MacDonald, who founded our centre, is a tremendous inspiration to us all. He particularly inspired my mum, Ann, who was latterly physically incapacitated through illness. We talked about Euan often and his courage and positivity. Since developing MND, Euan has not only set up our research centre and campaigned tirelessly for MND research he has set up a charity to make the world more accessible for all.
My mum, Ann, died this year and my training took a bit of a nosedive. Having said that, Christel, Fiona, Stuart, Simon, Val and Eleftheria have kept me running and I look forward to completing my leg on Sunday 27th May.
Although my mum died of complications due to a different disease she had very similar mobility and motor problems in later life. Please consider donating to the Euan MacDonald Centre this year, in celebration of Euan and in memory of my wee mum.
