I'm tavelling to Chennai in Southern India this coming August with a small but fantastic charity, Chennai Challenge. Our 2014 team are all getting stuck into planning right now, and when we finally get out there, we'll be working alongside two local organisations; the Oasis Project and with the YMCA.

One of the main projects will be working with young boys living in a YMCA orphange. They each have their own story and difficult past, and what they need now is support. Chennai Challenge donates to the orphange, providing books, clothes, stationary, or whatever is in demand! The team will also be taking the boys on a short break away from the city where they can hopefully relax, learn and have fun!

We'll also be on board with work being completed by Oasis, a separate charity, which works closely with adults in slum areas to equip them with skills such as English and computing. The aim is that the adults helped will go on to gain employment and be able to earn money for themselves - the value of education to these individuals is incredible, and it can change their life.

Outside of the YMCA and Oasis, we will also be doing what we can to help other areas of the community. There are community centres and schools which are in need of some tlc, so this year we hope to be able to invest some of our funds in a renovation project which will benefit everyone in the local area.

Of course though, all of these incredible projects require funding. I will be hugely grateful for any donation made, but it is the difference that your generosity will make to someone's life that is invaluable.
