Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This June, I'll be running a scarily long way on behalf of Cancer Research.
The reason I'm running is because 3 years ago, my fit and healthy brother was diagnosed with a brain
tumour at the age of 27. For 2 years his life was blighted by both the
physical and emotional effects of the tumour until one of his doctors
determined an invasive operation, although highly dangerous, was 'worth
the risk'. Fortunately, the doctor was right. The surgery was a total
success;
removing 100% of the tumour. Thanks to the skills of his surgeon and
nurses he has since made a full recovery. Their work has allowed him to
travel, pursue a new career, marry his girlfriend of 10 years
and play for his beloved football team again. All for which I am
eternally grateful.
My only wish is that I could cite his recovery as my
sole motivation for running. However, shortly after celebrating my
brother being given 'the all clear', my dad was diagnosed with incurable
kidney cancer. Although dad has been undergoing chemotherapy since August 2013 he continues to work full time, care for family and refuses to
fade away - all without once complaining or feeling sorry for himself.
His bravery inspires everyone around him, especially me. As a result, I have never felt more grateful than I have in the last year.
Please help me take on the challenge on behalf of my brother, my daddio & the cause - I can't do it without your help! :)
