Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Our 12 year old daughter was diagnosed with diabetes type 1 in September 2021. It came as a big shock and has meant alot of change in Elizabeth's life and our lives as her family.
Elizabeth is insulin dependent, which means that everytime she eats, she has to calculate the amount of carbohydrates in her food and then work out how much insulin she needs to inject, because her pancreas can no longer produce insulin for itself.
Without insulin injections Elizabeth's body would not function and ultimately she would not stay alive.
JDRF are committed to eradicating type 1 diabetes and their research has led to new developments in diabetes technology and treatment. This research is laying the foundations for a cure.
JDRF supports everyone living with type 1 diabetes, by working with policy makers to increase availability of treatments and by providing information and resources to help people manage their condition.
We are so proud of Elizabeth, our biggest heroine. She doesn’t like being diabetic, but in her usual style she tackles diabetes head on, such is her determination to get on with life. Diabetes presents challenges for Elizabeth every single day and night and she never gets a day off from it.
Please donate what you can to this fantastic charity and to our quest to climb the 3 Yorkshire peaks so that we can work towards helping those living with diabetes get that bit closer to the research and technology, which one day will mean no one lives with diabetes.
Diabetes, we'll fight you on the ground, in the day or when you wake us from our sleep at night, when we're doing normal stuff or marking special occasions with friends and family, and even up on the 3 Yorkshire peaks! You are relentless, no question about that, but so are we, and we'll keep on fighting you!! Here's to the hills!
