Story
With a hefty dose of blind enthusiasm, at the end of 2018 I applied for a place to run the London Marathon on 28th April 2019. Shockingly, I was lucky enough to be offered the opportunity to run in aid of Scope UK. I'm now committed! I must admit to being frankly terrified about running the 26.2 miles and just hope I make it to the finish! It's my first marathon and having only competed in 10km races in the past there's a long way to go.
I am aiming to raise £3,000 for Scope UK, a charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for disabled people. http://www.scope.org.uk/
Scope is an inspirational charity. Everyday tasks, including working, grocery shopping, and even just getting out of bed can be a huge challenge for people with a disability. Scope is here to help provide all disabled people with access to the same opportunity to education, work, building a home and social life.
Scope run a variety of initiatives, ranging from weekend breaks for the disabled, education on what a disability is and support to friends and family of people with a disability. But Scope needs our support:
£27 would pay for a 30 minute call to the helpline for parents with just diagnosed disabled children
£65 could pay for a one week support for a customer on one of their employment services.
Their work is crucial to over a quarter of a million disabled people and their families, and this is why I am determined to raise money to enable Scope to continue their meaningful work.
I would really appreciate it if you could support me with any donation you can make. Please dig deep as every penny goes to Scope and each contribution is important however big or small. Thank you so much for your support!
