Story
Earlier this year my Grandad passed away after suffering from progressive supranuclear palsy (psp) for a few years. This will be the first race that I have ever done let alone the fact that it's a half marathon, but I wanted to do it in my Grandad's memory to try and raise awareness of this disease whilst also raising money for the charity PSP Association. I should also add that CBD, a similar disease, is included under the umbrella of PSP.
As of yet there is still no known cause of this disease, no treatment to slow down the progression or any cure. Research shows that there's about 4,000 people in the UK who suffer from PSP but it's thought that the true figure could be closer to 10,000. With your help this money could fund research to better understand PSP, achieving ealier and a more effective diagnosis.
In addition to this, the charity has a number of support groups spread across the UK allowing patients, families and carers to gain access to the services that they require to help them through these tough times. The PSP Association also aims to give information and raise awareness of these diseases amongst medical professions and too the general public.
By donating your money you could help to increase the quality of life for thousand of people across the UK.
