Story
Although being able to have clean water, reliable toilets
and good hygiene seems like a normal part of daily life for everyone, billions
of people do not have access to these basic needs. 1 in 10 people are unable to
access clean water close to home and 1 in 4 people don’t have a decent toilet
of their own. Individuals are forced to drink, bathe, cook and clean with dirty
water, risking their health every day in order to survive. In addition to this
lack of hygiene, many children have to walk over 5 miles every morning just to
collect water for the day, this is time that could otherwise be used for
learning.
Water Aid has teams in 28 countries across the world working
to transform millions of lives every year by improving access to clean water,
toilets and hygiene. They directly install taps, toilets and wells in areas of
need along with proving funds for education and convincing governments to
change laws.
