Story
Hello I’m Chloe,
I was diagnosed back in 1989 with Type 1 Diabetes 2 weeks before my 5th birthday. I had developed a huge blister covering the palm of hand and looked malnourished and was peeing everywhere!
It’s hard now to remember life without Type 1 Diabetes! Things have changed so much… there was very little blood glucose monitoring and testing equipment and I remember my mum and I in tears as she used a needle to prick my finger! I used hypodermic syringes to inject with 12mm needles!
My mum, friends and my friends parents encouraged me to be as independent as I could and for that reason, I was never ashamed of having Type 1!
Life today is a CGM (continuous glucose monitor) and insulin pump that communicate to each other through Bluetooth and automatically adjust insulin doses to suit my needs! This is equivalent to an artificial pancreas!
Although Type1 Diabetes is really really really hard work, it has not stopped me achieving all the things I want to do!
Thank you for stopping by and supporting me and helping raise money for such a vital charity that is oh so close to my heart!
