Story
Scarlett saw some Children on the Edge Facebook posts in February and asked what they were about, so I sat and explained. As a 6year old she was mortified that not everybody lives how we do- that people are living on the streets, they can’t afford a lot of food or clothes, that some children work and don’t go to school. I explained to her that Children on the Edge work closely with The Body Shop (another reason I love being apart of it so much), and help to improve their lifestyles. Scarlett told me she wanted to make a difference! She told me she wanted to complete a challenge to raise money to “make those sad children happy, and to help them get new clothes, clean water, extra food, and go to school”. We sat down and agreed a realistic challenge that both her younger sisters (Ruby who’s 4, and Rose who’s almost 2) could join in with too. Throughout March, we’ll be walking 2miles every day! That’s just over 2 full marathons!
Scarlett would love to raise £1000, but we're going to aim for £100 to begin with. With £100 Children on the Edge can help to educate a child, in a safe space, for a whole year!
Across The Body Shop at Home we are fundraising for Children on the Edge; to bring hope, life, colour and fun to children living on the edge of society.Children on the Edge was sparked into life by Dame Anita Roddick over 30 years ago. Not long after this The Body Shop At Home began to support them. Children on the Edge supports over 15,000 of the worlds most marginalised children to realise their rights. In India, Uganda, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Lebanon they help create protective environments where children can thrive. In 2021 our support can help Dalit children in India to access education, develop community activism and grow in confidence; helping to break the cycle of discrimination.
