Story
I am a Bilborough College student who has been growing my hair for three years and plan to have it shaved off to raise money for charity.I'm asking people to sponsor me to have my long hair shaved off at Hair Flair salon, in Easthorpe Street, Ruddington, at 10.30am on March 1.
Money raised will be donated to Cancer Research UK and my hair will then be donated to the 'Little Princess' Trust which makes real-hair wigs for little girls with cancer.
I was inspired to fund-raise after a friend’s mother died of cancer. I wanted to raise money for Cancer Research UK and thought this would be a good way to do it.
I have been growing my hair since I was about 14 and it’s quite long now but I don’t think it’s a big sacrifice to have it shaved off. If it helps save a life then it’s more than worth it.
I just didn’t have the time or motivation to raise money by doing some sort of sponsored exercise so thought this would be the best way.
I am a bit nervous but I will definitely go through with it, it’s for such a good cause. The only thing I’m worried about is being teased after I have had it done because of the way it looks.
The money raised will go towards helping to fund research into developing cancer treatments with fewer side effects for children.
