Story
Hello, my name is Cheryl for those of you who don’t know me🫣firstly I’d just like to thank anyone who donates to this page. This charity is one that is close to my heart. Back in February 2018 I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. This came as a shock, I definitely didn’t think I was going to get the news that I had a chronic illness. We were thankfully able to get it under control with medication and got a good three years out of it. In January 2021 I got into another flare and well this lasted for almost a year. I was on and off steroids along with other biologic drugs but nothing helped. In February 2022 I ended up having to have major surgery and had to have part of my bowel removed and now have an ileostomy. Since the operation I haven’t looked back. It has given me my freedom back and I’m back doing things I love doing. So I thought it was time to put abit of effort in and raise some much needed funds for a wonderful charity.
We’re the UK’s leading charity for Crohn’s and Colitis.Right now, an estimated 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. And the real number could be almost double that.Because of the stigma and misunderstanding surrounding these diseases, thousands of people are suffering in silence. But they’re not alone. We’re working to improve diagnosis and treatment, and to fund research into a cure; to raise awareness and to give people hope, comfort and confidence to live freer, fuller lives.
