Update: I will now be running in Helena's memory as she sadly passed away on 12th August 😔💔
Dear friends, family, colleagues, neighbours,
Thank you so much for supporting me in this endeavour. I have decided to run the London Marathon for Macmillan because my dear ex-colleague, Helena, is fighting against brain cancer and she has cited Macmillan as making a real difference to her and her family through these extremely challenging times. Sadly, there is little I can do to help her myself but what I can do is try to raise lots of money for this incredible charity which is so close to her heart.
It goes without saying that your donations will make a huge difference to Macmillan, but they will also keep me motivated in the run up (pun intended! :D) to and during the actual marathon itself. This is a huge challenge for me, physically - not being a natural runner, and only ever having run the occasional 5km race in the past! For context, the marathon is 42.2km (26.2 miles)!! Not to mention I only found out I had a place at the end of July, so only having 9 weeks to train!
