Story
My Y (why, get it?) I have fond memories from my youth as a member of the YMCA where I learned to swim, engaged in racquetball (that’s a story for later), ran around the track and spent time with my dad. As an adult I had the privilege to volunteer as coach for youth basketball where the athletes learned discipline, teamwork, leadership, how to deal with defeat and how to thrive on the big win. I was also honored to serve on the board of the Wendel D. Ley YMCA in the early 2000’s prior to joining the board of the Greater Houston YMCA in 2020. Please join me in helping the Greater Houston YMCA continue to make an impact on the community by donating to the Annual Be the Change Campaign.
The Annual Be the Change Campaign ensures that everyone has equal access to the resources and tools they need to thrive. In the Greater Houston area, YMCA wellness facilities, one overnight camp and hundreds of program sites strive to empower youth, build healthier families and foster inclusive communities. These programs are driven by our mission of serving Houston as a cause-driven organization for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. By giving a donation to this campaign, you join a group of people dedicated to the success and well-being of our community.Join us in making an impact. The campaign is about more than just raising money. It is about the life-changing impact that the YMCA provides by opening doors to those in need. The stories of those who are impacted by the Y have the power to unite and inspire.
