Story
This is the THIRD year running that John Griff and I have supported The Lewis Foundation. As with last year we are joined by the amazing Ian Taylor, Beccy Hurrell and The Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Choir.
Going one step further however we have my colleague and dear friend Wayne Jenkins on drums, together with Madrigalis - the award winning close harmony choir from Northampton School for Girls. My daughter happens to be a member of that choir too!
See the video here https://youtu.be/sSAS3dTnLCY OR search YouTube for 'SingingSolicitor Chasing Cars' - from 4th February 2023.
The Lewis Foundation bring companionship, gifts, essentials - distraction - and the notion that a stranger cares to adults undergoing cancer treatment.
Their gift packs cost (still!!!!) just £3.60. They contain things like radios, earphones and batteries, quiz books, novels, crafts... toiletries, underwear, toothbrush... sometimes people are kept in without notice... to not have to worry about these things is incredible.
Would you lie with me and just forget the world? Whether times are hard, or on the mend, or much worse... that notion of a cuddle, a moment in time where noting else matters, that distraction... this line struck me in August last year as I was thinking that in December 2022 it would be 10 years since my best friend and former colleague at Wilson Browne Solicitors Graham Hill died from skin cancer.
Graham and I knew what was coming, and my wife Rachel, my daughter Bethany - then 3 - together we filled his last ten months with distraction. This is what that line means to me, and is just part of what the Lewis Foundation do week in week out.
Please PLEASE share their story. If you can donate, that would be brilliant. If not, please stream the song - on all the usual platforms (ask for Chasing Cars by Kevin Rogers - or any of us). Each stream raises a fraction of a penny or something so stick it on repeat!!! All proceeds - not profit, all proceeds for everyone you see in the credits gives their time freely - go to the Lewis Foundation. Thank you to Wilson Browne for funding the various licence fees.
Below are the credits from the video... it has been amazing seeing just how many people and businesses have helped this year! |A massive thank you... doesn't cover it.
We asked everyone who they would like to celebrate... a cancer patient, survivor, or someone to remember.
Ultimately... this is for them...
