Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name’s Chas Booth, I’m the Green councillor for Leith, and I am running the Kielder marathon on 2 October 2022, for Bikes for Refugees.
My 50th birthday is less than 2 weeks after I run the marathon, so I wanted to celebrate my half century by setting myself a challenge. Although I've run shorter distances before, I've never run a marathon, so I'll be well outside my comfort zone.
I want to fundraise for Bikes for Refugees because they have strong connections to Leith and because their work combines two of my passions: cycling and welcoming New Scots. They are much more than a bicycle project - access to bikes for New Scots can be transformational and liberating, supporting every aspect of people’s daily lives.
