Story
After running my 10k in December the next challenge I set myself was to do a half marathon. So here it is, I am running the royal parks half marathon this October in support of carers network. This is a charity that supports unpaid carers throughout central London, transforming the lives of thousands of people.
A carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health condition or who needs extra help as they grow older.
For some, taking on a caring role can be sudden; someone in their family has an accident or a child is born with a disability. For others, caring responsibilities can grow gradually over time; their parents cannot manage on their own any longer or a partner’s mental or physical health gradually worsens.
With your help, Carers Network can make sure carers receive the help and support they need, so that no one cares alone!
For those of you that don’t know me, I’m not exactly a running enthusiast. The thought of doing 21 km after only having previously done 10k makes me pretty nervous. It’ll take some task to force myself to go on early morning runs and jogs after work. However, I am motivated to rise to the challenge and raise money for carers network as it is a cause close to my heart that I know has an amazing impact on peoples lives. I hope that’ll stop me from snoozing that morning alarm! If you’ve got anything to give at all I would really appreciate it.
